2005-2006 | Weilers Farm Kindergarten

Weilers Farm, Johannesburg, South Africa

Planning: October 2005 – January 2006
Completion: February – March 2006 (8 Weeks)
Team: DI Gernot Kupfer, DI Eva Grubbauer, 22 Students of TU Graz

“Weilersfarm” Kindergarten located south-west of Johannesburg disposed of three equally sized spaces- kitchen, sanitary facilities and an isolated room for diseased children.

The crucial point and main focus of the design was to create safe environment which would encourage children’s natural curiosity and eager to learn and explore.

Special emphasis was to form indifferent zones, protected safe areas between the outside and inside, that would provide not only a “roof over their head”, but moreover a place which they can identify to and actively interact with.
